How to add a new charge to a plan without resetting existing subscription overrides

When you add a new charge to a plan that has subscriptions with custom overridden pricing, you need to explicitly choose whether the new charge propagates to those subscriptions. The default option leaves override subscriptions unchanged. To reach all customers, select "Impact overridden subscriptions" in the modal. This does not reset or overwrite any pricing already defined in those overrides.

How plan charge propagation works

When adding a new charge to a plan, Lago presents two options:

Do not impact overridden subscriptions: Adds the charge only to standard subscriptions created after the change. Subscriptions with custom overridden pricing are left unchanged.

Impact overridden subscriptions: Pushes the new charge to all active subscriptions, including those with custom pricing. Only the new charge is added; all previously configured custom prices on other charges remain completely intact. For example, if a customer has a custom price on Charge A at $7/unit and you add Charge B at $5/unit via this option, the customer ends up with Charge A still at $7/unit and the new Charge B at the plan's $5/unit default.
